Chewy Chocolate Toffee Squares

Ingredients
- Crust:
- 2 cups (500 mL) Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
- 1 cup/stick (250 mL) All Vegetable Shortening, cold, cut into bits
- 3/4 cup (175 mL) toffee bits
- Filling:
- 1 can (300 mL) Original or Low Fat Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 cup (250 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) toffee bits
- 1 cup (250 mL) remaining crust mixture
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) semi-sweet chocolate, melted (optional)
Directions
Crust:
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350º F (180ºC). Line 9” x 13” (3 L) baking dish with parchment paper.
Step 2:
Combine flour, sugar and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. You can do this in the food processor. Stir in toffee bits. Reserve 1 cup (250 mL) flour mixture for topping.
Filling:
Step 3:
Press flour mixture into prepared baking dish. Pour condensed milk over crust. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and toffee bits. Sprinkle with remaining flour mixture.
Step 4:
Bake in preheated oven 30-35 minutes. Drizzle with melted chocolate, if desired. Cool and cut into squares.
