Divine Dark Chocolate Squares

Ingredients

  • Base:
  • 2 cups (500 mL) Robin Hood® Large Flake Oats
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) toasted chopped almonds
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter, melted
  • Filling:
  • 2 cups (500 mL) unsweetened flaked coconut
  • 1 can (300 mL) Eagle Brand® Low Fat Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) toasted almonds, coarsely chopped
  • Topping:
  • 2 cups (500 mL) dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter

Directions

Step 1:

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9” x 13” (3 L) baking dish with parchment paper, overlapping 2 sides for easy removal.

Step 2:

Base: Combine ingredients in a large bowl. Press into prepared baking dish. Bake for 18 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes.

Step 3:

Filling: Mix coconut and sweetened condensed milk in a bowl. Pour over cooled base. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 13 minutes.

Step 4:

Topping: Meanwhile, melt chocolate and butter together. Stir to combine.

Step 5:

Spread over bars. Cool and cut into squares.

Tip

For easy cutting, remove bars from pan and cut in squares when they are at room temperature.
