Apple Chess Pie

Ingredients
- 1 9" / 23 cm unbaked pie shell
- 4 eggs
- 1 can (300 mL) Eagle Brand® Original or Low Fat Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 cup (250 mL) applesauce
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter, melted
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) 1 apple, peeled and grated
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) lemon juice
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) cornmeal
Directions
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 425ºF (220ºC). Bake pie shell in preheated oven for 8 minutes; remove from oven. Reduce oven temperature to 350ºF (180ºC).
Step 2:
In a large mixer bowl, beat eggs. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour into prepared shell.
Step 3:
Bake in preheated oven 40 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool. Serve warm or chilled. Store covered in refrigerator.
Tip
Use a McIntosh, Royal Gala or Golden Delicious apple.
